The HSCA endeavors to inspire political activism
in our community. Our objective is to create a forum for
the residents of our neighborhood to address, provide
information and take action on issues that affect our quality of
life.
We are committed to supporting our County Commissioners request
to designate the Barrier Island as "Environmentally
Sensitive Lands" (ESL) as a failsafe method to prevent
over-development. We are committed to supporting the
original CRA: growth that is responsible and responsive to the
needs and desires of the residents of the Barrier Island and
endorse and support political candidates in all districts in the
effort to unseat present self-serving Officials who continue to
ignore the voices of the residents of the Barrier Island and
elsewhere in our City.
The Alliance opposes the City's recent request to transform our
original East CRA to an RAC (Regional Activity Center) thus
allowing for a three fold increase in the per acre
density, with no height restrictions for buildings and will
allow Developers an open invitation to build on the last green
space we have left in our Atlantic Avenue Beach area.
These proposed development projects will result in a more
than doubling of the current traffic using A1A and the 14th
Street Bridge. The HSCA is a registered Political Action
Committee (PAC) and abides by the Laws of Florida.
The HSCA is also a member of COPSOC (the Coalition of Pompano to
Save Our City), which represents many significant neighborhood,
condominium and civic associations throughout the City.
Among many other achievements, COPSOC was instrumental in the
success of the November Voters' Referendum for the Mayor at
Large.
